[00:00:00] Sidney Evans: Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. I'm Sidney Evans, an award winning audio editor, engineer, and producer. And I want to take this time to introduce to you my new show, Beyond the Threshold, where I'll be highlighting the careers of Black men and women working in the audio industry. I got my start in audio around 2017, and In that time, I realized there are a lot of talented black people in this space.
[00:00:31] So I really just wanted to create a platform to highlight those individuals, whether their skill be technical, creative, or combination of the two. However, they are all necessary. And when I first started, I wish there would have been a resource for me to really just get some game on how to break into and to continue to progress in the industry.
[00:00:55] So I wanted to create a platform for that information as well. And to be honest, because of the highs and lows that come with working in this field, and there will be highs and lows, I wanted to build a community for us to really just support each other. No matter the state of the industry at any particular moment, most of the experience I've had has been in podcasting.
[00:01:21] So a lot of the connections I've made have been related to that, but I also want to highlight those working in other fields within the field. So audio books, gaming, TV, film, et cetera. I'm looking forward to a lot of interesting conversations. You'll learn a lot more about my background and my journey, as well as the backgrounds and journeys of the guests.
[00:01:47] And I'm really just looking to continue to build some new relationships. within the field to continue to nurture the ones that have already established and and for the show to be as informative as it can for you all the listeners as well.
